Vacation Me Time, pt 1

"Dad, when is dinner?" "Honey? Can you come take out the trash please?" I made this video because I wanted to remind myself - (and share :) ) - that as providers and caregivers, we have the ability and the RIGHT to say the three most powerful words in your arsenal of self preservation: NOT. RIGHT. NOW. Take time for yourself! Not only is it healthy, it's NECESSARY. You can't pour from an empty vessel, and sometimes you just have to fill it yourself. Go ahead! :) You'll feel less stressed, more relaxed, and the trash will be right there where you left it when you're done. The world won't END in the next 5 minutes if dinner is a little late. So, the next time you're going to put off caring for yourself because ______ needs _______... Make ME-TIME. Not excuses! Enjoy!

🤷🏾‍♂️ Sometimes you get to eat the dessert 🍨 first. Yesterday I put in 75000 steps 🥵. The next day, before we head out for another grueling day of family fun in the 100 degree Florida sun☀️, I figure I'll take some time for myself FIRST. A notion so nice, I did it twice. I'm trying out some new camera angles, and I'm happy to share my results. Enjoy yourselves... and then enjoy yourselves again!

It is easy for the ❤️caregivers❤️ out there to pass yourself by so you can care for someone else. ☝🏾🤨BUT!! When you work 💪🏾hard and hit your ✊🏾physical 🚲fitness goals, 😁REWARDING YOURSELF IS MANDATORY!😁 Don't discount your progress, 🥳CELEBRATE IT! I just hit a major milestone, and I'm taking some 😈me-time🍆 to reward myself with a quick edging session in the 🧼shower🚿. I want to share it to show that self-care is wonderful, healthy, and your right as a loving human who cares for others! This is a celebration of sorts. My health used to be a lot worse off that it is. I've lost almost 100 pounds 🏋🏾‍♀️🚴🏾🥋 and in so doing beat 🩸diabetes💉. Metformin is a distant memory! So when I say enjoy your self? I mean ENJOY. 🫵🏾🤨YOUR. SELF. If you take care of your body and it is still upright and functioning? Be 🥳thankful😌 and reward it for doing such good work! This is my reward: the confidence to sit and be JUST ME and feel as comfortable in my own skin whether or not people are watching me.
